Life story

Feyruz Sabir oglu Mehdiyev was born in 1962 in Baku. Originally from the Tovuz region, he was drafted into the Soviet Army in Ukraine. After completing his military service in 1983, he returned to Baku. In 1984, he applied to the History Faculty of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical University, where he was accepted and continued his education part-time. After graduating from university, he worked as a history teacher at School No. 264 in the Khatai district. In November 1991, he volunteered to defend the city of Shusha in Karabakh. After some time, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. On April 24, 1994, he was martyred in battles for the Agdam region. He was buried in the Martyrs' Alley in the village of Ashagy Kushchu, Tovuz region. By the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, Feyruz Mehdiyev was posthumously awarded the "Azerbaijani Flag" order.
