Life story
Shahriyar Alibeyli was born on October 25, 1994, in the village of Vandam in the Gabala District. In 2001, he began his education at Pilot School No. 1 in Vandam and continued there until 2004. After moving with his family to Baku, he continued his studies at Secondary School No. 236 in the Badamdar settlement. In 2010, Shahriyar entered the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military Lyceum. He graduated from the Azerbaijani Higher Military Academy and began serving as a communications officer in a military unit in the Gazakh District in 2018.
During the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, Shahriyar voluntarily joined the Special Forces and fought on the frontlines in battles for Shusha, Khojavend, Lachin, and Kalbajar. After the war, he continued his service in the Special Forces.
As a lieutenant of the Azerbaijani army, Shahriyar participated in the operation to liberate Azerbaijani territories from Armenian occupation, starting on September 27, 2020. He distinguished himself in the battles for the liberation of Khojavend and Shusha.
By decree of President Ilham Aliyev on December 29, 2020, he was awarded the medal “For the Liberation of Shusha,” and on June 24, 2021, he was awarded the medal “For the Liberation of Khojavend.” Shahriyar also received the “Participant of the Patriotic War” medal by order of Prime Minister Ali Asadov. On April 22, 2022, he was honored with the 3rd-degree medal "For Distinguished Military Service" by Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.
After the war, Shahriyar Alibeyli was recognized with numerous medals, honorary certificates, and commendations. On March 5, 2023, during an incident involving illegal arms transport by Armenian armed groups from Armenia to the Karabakh Economic Region, Shahriyar demonstrated exemplary combat skills. During the inspection of the vehicles involved in illegal military transport, a firefight ensued, and Shahriyar, while eliminating the enemy, heroically fell in action.
His body was brought to his home, and on March 6, 2023, he was laid to rest with honors at the Second Alley of Martyrs. Family members, relatives, officials from the Ministry of Defense, and members of the public attended the funeral ceremony.
On June 25, 2023, by decree of President Ilham Aliyev, Shahriyar Alibeyli was posthumously awarded the medal "For the Homeland."
